The Objective:
To provide energy efficient LED lighting for a retrofit of existing fluorescent lighting in order to enhance lighting quality, which will in turn, improve employee productivity and transpire to become an energy efficient office & warehouse facility.

The Challenge:
The lighting in a commercial warehouse requires equal attention to vertical as well as horizontal foot candle densities because employees may be moving supplies and operating equipment either vertically up ramps or horizontally across floor space. The type of lights utilized is very important because some types of light render color more effectively than others, and operations such as assembly line work often require a color rendering index (CRI) of close to 100 (CRI of daylight).

The Solution:
An energy audit was conducted of the warehouse facility to determine the best solution within to benefit the most from a LED lighting retrofit. The warehouse facility consisted of T-12, 8-foot light fixtures which would be retrofitted with highbay LED fixtures. The LEDs are more energy efficient, have a longer life expectancy and are brighter, whiter lights than the existing T-12 lamps. The other benefit of the lighting retrofit is the reduced heat output which reduces HVAC costs.

The Results:
The reduction in energy consumption promises significant decrease in utility expenses. The warehouse will have 79% in energy savings within the first year. Additionally the uniformity in lighting creates an improved working environment.
